KCRG reports crews are about halfway done with construction of the new Northwest Recreation Center. Project leaders broke ground during the summer of 2015, and after six months of construction workers are making progress. This comes after years of planning and discussions about where the city should build it after the flood damaged the old one.

The Iowa Department of Education has released the Iowa School Report Card, a new web-based system to evaluate and rate each public school based on performance on a required set of measures, such as student attendance and graduation rates.
All District offices closed December 21, 2015 - January 1, 2016, for staff progress reporting and holiday break. Possible snow make-up days on December 21 and 22.
Parents and community members are invited to attend the annual ‘State of the District’ event on Friday, Dec. 11. The program will feature updates on District goals and innovative initiatives in teaching and learning.

America Reads - October 23 at Harrison
The District joined with the City of Cedar Rapids to break ground on the Northwest Recreation Center today at Harrison Elementary School, 1310 11th Street NW. The ceremony marked the beginning of construction on the center anticipated to open in July 2016.
